He says the V30's are broken in but they sound like one's I've had in the past that weren't broken in. Keep in mind the Retro 30 is the only 30 watt speaker here and it's closer to a Greenback.

I've always struggled with V30s. They just kill in Bogner cabs when you're jamming, but they still get pretty laser-beamy when the speaker is pointed at your face.

There's always that gritty and harsh upper-mid spike that gets very fatiguing. The Warehouse clips sound much more pleasing to me at first but I started to notice that they all have this sort of generic, "papery" sound to them, for lack of a better term..

But I think I'm just happier with Greenbacks or H30s or variations of them. Ive had all The veterans sound pretty good but also pretty dark and tend to get lost in a mix, they arent very clear speakers either can be a little blurry, I would take a celestion V30 over them..

It is brighter, clearer and tighter than the Veteran. I haven't compared them head to head, but I have played through both in a configuration.

I liked the broken in v30 over the vet 30, it just had more bite and but. The vet30 sounded smoother, but a bit more generic.

In the clip posted above, I liked the vet30 better, the v30 sounded brash by comparison in that clip. Vet30 - Smoother mids, somewhat dark in comparison, handles a bright crunchy amps gain nicely.

Retro30 - Deep, tight lows. More mids than the Vet30 but less nasal sting than a regular V Sharp highs, but not excessive. Conservative lows and highs.

To me , this is total BS. Did you compared the broken in speaker? Mesa speaker was older? The main problem is that the people complain about China V30 harshness, fizzyness etc but the speaker was not broken in Yes , new speaker sounds like a shit , fcking paper cardboard but after it's really smooth , punchy and ideal for chugging and leads.

Mesa V30 has its own flavor , also great speaker. Not better, worse - just different. I think I like a large dustcap speaker for my Mark V anyways.

I'm kinda over the super bright treble guitar tine. I like the top end to be like a pack of firecrackers going off instead on a fountain sparkler if that makes any sense.

I think a 6l6 amp doesn't need a bright speaker. They say it's 80 watts. How big is the magnet? I really dig Black Shadows, but never owned 4 at one time.

I think it might be what I like. I'm running ET65's right now and think they are pretty cool. My favorite is the Retro My cab is loaded with them.

I haven't seen any complaints posted yet in this thread about the Retro. So I'd go with that one. Completely happy with it myself, and I was never completely happy with the other speakers I tried, V30 variants or otherwise.

I had a quad of Veteran 30's in my Bogner cab. Round lows, smooth mids, and sparkling highs. These are the things you've come to expect from American amps.

I have one, but it came extra with a cab and I have never used it. I was going to put it in a peavey classic On another forum everyone thought it would be an improvement over the stock blue marvel.

I had a quad of Veteran 30's in my Bogner cab. It was a bit to soft for me, and I found myself missing the bite and presence of the V I put two V30's in with two Veteran 30's and I got what I was looking for.

I still want to replace the Warehouse speakers with some more Celestions though. You cant just say a Mesa V30 is a UK one. Its voiced differently.

The mids are completely shifted on them. Very interested in these retro 30's and what they bring to the table.

I hear a lot of reviews about WGS missing the punch or detail of their celestion counterparts but these always seem to get fairly good reviews.

Wish there were more clips available! Vintage 30s are the king of peakers for me! Followed by Greenbacks, Creambacks and Lynchbacks.

I'm getting ready to buy. Not a fan of the Retro 30's. They are grittier than a well broken in Chinese V30 and have a very strange mid Q.

Both a much better speaker than the Retro 30 IMO. I've compared them all in an Orange 1x12 closed back cab.

Did the deed. Hellatone 60's.. They sound pretty good. I'm glad I went with the real thing. V30's all the way and there are no real differences between the UK and Chinese.

I have had Bogner cabs with Chinese V0s and they sound great. Currently have older broken in UK V30s in my Cameron cab.

I got these from my friend in a trade and they sound great in this cab. It sounds absolutely fantastic and "correct" with every one of my amps.

And the WGS12L? I was never a big fan of this type of speaker but Dean and the WGS crew have changed my mind with this one - Amazing!

Our Product Line. Nicky Moroch. WGS sound killer with these old Fender amps! Jimmy Herring.
